Case Studies

The Learning Network (TLN) of the Nature and Health Alliance (NHA) began as an open-source database of case studies focused on the important connection between nature and health.

Founded in 2024 by Amy Wagenfeld, Ph.D., Wes Tate, M.D., and Amelia Dupuis, B.A. with support from the REI Cooperative Action Fund, the vision was for TLN to serve as a “commons” to facilitate community and foster inspiration for practitioners interested in the intersection of nature and health. The database is a specially curated collection of nature-based programs and design projects in geographic locations worldwide. The programs highlight innovative, inclusive, and effective nature-based opportunities for people across the life spectrum. The design projects are drawn from diverse settings such as gardens, public parks, schools, therapeutic and community recreation centers, hospitals/clinics, and playgrounds.

Today, under the NHA, the mission to showcase case studies about innovative and original programs and design projects continues, demonstrating successful strategies to increase access to high quality nature and promote better health.
